Getting Anxious?

Well I think 4 posts in one day pretty much shows that I am getting all excited about the race. I keep thinking about the race and our strategy and going back on it and wondering if we should do it a bit different and what is our goal finishing time and yadda yadda. I think I watched that Marathon Movie like 5 times today. Everytime they show the start of the race my heart jumps a little bit and sit up in my chair and remember how awesome that moment is.

woof.

We had 5 miles with 6x100m strides tonight. Felt great on all parts of it. We have found a school near us that is about two blocks long on one side, but no street that interrupts the sidewalk, and there is very little foot traffic along that sidewalk, especially around 6pm in the evening.

Tomorrow is off and then 12 on Sunday.

Anyone else out there doing Pfitz think that there are a lot of miles before the race? 5 next Friday and 4 on Saturday. I know these are both recoveries and I know that Pfitz knows more that me so I'll probably do them, just wondering what others were planning on. Last year I did like 2 miles on Thursday and none on Friday or Saturday. I don't really want to question the plan now though.

Ok. Movie time.

Hey, I found your blog through Bob's list of Chicago Marathoners. It looks like your training is going great. I'm taking on my 2nd Chicago marathon as well, and looking back wish that I had stepped it up a bit to improve my pace.

I'll be looking forward to your race report and hearing if you feel Pfitz is the way to go. I bought the book several weeks ago and I'm thinking about using it for whatever marathon I do next.

I've been scrolling looking for your race strategy but I haven't seen it. However, I was impressed with your improvement at Indy. I see you're going for sub 4 and better.

Time for a repeat performance from Indy but in the 2nd half of the race this time. Choose and stick to a conservative pace for the 1st half and let yourself reel in the runners after mile 16 or so. Just don't move too early.

I'm sure you know all of this but as you prepare mentally for race day it's great to feel like you know how it's going to play out.

Good luck at Chicago. I'm looking to the race report.

Yeah that movie gives me goose bumps.

In regards to Pfitz, I agree that it's quite a bit of mileage for the two days before the marathon. I will probably do the Friday run, but will probably cut back the saturday run to 2 miles since I've done that in the past. That last run is more about getting the blood moving than trying to increase your fitness or recovery from anything.

I sort of agree on the miles before the race. Perhaps for someone more fit then I am it would be great. I am planning on getting up and going down for a little jog around the start finish area if I can get close. Just a really easy little run on Saturday morning to get the blood flowing and aquaint myself with area. No running Friday or Thursday.

You are nuts...and you're making ME even more anxious!

I think Pfitz is quite intense. I'm not sure I have it in me to follow a plan like his. Most weeks I'm lucky to get in a few mid-week runs.

I'm the same way with the video. MUST.PULL.MYSELF.AWAY.

Eek!! One week....one week......one weeeeeeeeeeeeeeek.

I would do what your body tells you on those days. Your body is its best judgement.
