Ok Barb I don't know if you have heard....but I can't wait.....
So on the way home today from work (we left a "little" early) we stopped at Dick's Sporting Goods on Rt 56 in or near Downer's Grove to get, of course, more running gear. I was strolling around with my arm fulls of shorts and what have you and I hear someone say, "Leah?" I turn around and see a guy standing there waiting for me to respond. I don't recognize the person and I am thinking it's someone from high school or whatever and then he said, "It's The Out of Shape Guy"
I just about fell over.
I have been hoping to run into fellow Chicago runners along the lake front. But I never thought in a million years that I would run into a fellow city dweller runner at a Dick's sporting goods way out of the city. How funny is that!!!
We are meeting up with them tomorrow, but just a way random occurance today. I cannot freakin wait for this meet up. He and Barb sound a lot like Jason and I. :-)
Alright it's time for 10 miles...whee we get to run by Wrigley during a game....maybe we'll catch a homerun!!!

Oh honey...you KNOW he called me right after he left Dick's!! I sat here at my desk laughing in disbelief. It took him a bit to figure out where he knew you from...hah. :) Makes me wonder if I could've picked you two out in a crowd like that.
So yeah...I am uber jealous...but it only makes me more excited for tomorrow night!!
Hope you and Jason are out on the lake front having a great run!!
I want to me someone!! Who lives in my area? Anyone? Anyone?
That's a nice coincidence. Have a good 10 miler and meet up tomorrow.
BTW, did they sell running skirts at the store? Have you seen anyone wearing them?
Reason I ask is because I posted today about a New York Times article that reviews some running skirts. Personally, I've never seen any women runners in my area wearing them and was wondering what was the benfit versus shorts and tights.
That is so excellent and I am so jealous. I wish I could run into a Vancouver RBFer! I think the only one around is Vince. Unfortunately, he doesn't attend the same races as me (he mostly goes in the elite races) and he lives in a different part of the city. Maybe someday...
I've seen running skirts... there was a girl wearing one right beside me in the ING Ottawa half marathon. It was cute :)
barb i figured he would have, but Jason was all like, oooh don't say anything before Barb knows :-)
I have heard that the running skirts are nice because they don't bunch up...but I haven't tried them. However, if anyone was worried that Nike or Underarmour wasn't going to make their quota this quarter...well that won't happen after my little trip to Dicks :-)
John -
I think a running skirt should be the next gadget you test.
I just don't look that good in skirts :-)
Then again maybe I can pair them with my brand new, bright red running shoes. That will definitely cause a stir in my small town of 15,000 people. However, if I drive 20 minutes to the west into San Francisco, I'm sure no one would bat an eye....
