Jason and I have a membership at our local YMCA. We were considering canceling it since we never went. Our schedule is so insane that trying to add weight lifting into the mix is a little insane, but go figure Leah found a way to make it happen. We are going to try to go to the gym just twice a week. Twice a week and not crazy on the lifting weights. Just enough to help our upper body stay strong and help us along on those long runs.
Yesterday was the first day back. We hardly did anything, but enough to feel a little sore today. We started with this machine that is an assited dip and pullup dealy. I love it cause I need lots of help on those two exercise. Then we just did bicep, tricep and shoulder work. Then we did the leg press, lower back and ab work.
I'm feeling ok today, but I might have overdone it on the leg press. We are going to try and go again on Friday and see how that schedule works out.
We had a great evening at Stately Wayne Manor (our apartment is on Wayne St.) with our first cookout of the season. We have a tiny porch just off of our kitchen, but it's a really great place to sit and enjoy the evening. We listened to the Cubs game (don't get me started) and drank some beers, and really enjoyed not being in the car. We will only go into work this week on Thursday because our boss will be here then and the other days we'll be working from home. This weekend it's off to Fort Wayne for the Three Rivers 12K race which Bridgette and family is going to come watch (I am so excited!!! These are the races when it's great to have spectators, as I didn't think anyone was going to be there! Plus I get to see Bridgette and Chad and the kids which I haven't seen in a long time!) On Sunday we'll head to Indianapolis for a barbeque at Bridgette's house and then we are back on shifts Monday, this time 4-12.
Also, I got e-mail that my new......should I give it away.....alright.....GARMIN FORERUNNER 205 was shipped yesterday and should be here tomorrow (maybe it'll be early and come today). More on that when it gets here.

awwww what a cute picture. Sounds like you have a fun week planned and only one day at work, awsome!!
You will LOVE your Garmin, I would wager you might even be more techie then me so I can't wait to see what you do with it.
FYI look at Sporttracks, I am currently working on making it my full time Log Book. It's not quite as nice as MB but it gives you the ability to manually enter Dreadmill runs or runs where you just don't want the gadgets straped to your body. Plus you can still use the free MB to share runs with bloggie friends. Congrats on the purchase.
I will have to give all the options a shot. Due to me owning a Mac I will be limited on my main machine to the new mac MB agent which isn't a full version yet. We did resurrect Jason's old PC laptop and hoepfully can get that fully functional by tomorrow.

Lately, I think the beer is required if you are going to listen to Cubs games.

How many people are registered so far?
> my new...GARMIN FORERUNNER 205
Cool! But what are you going to do with your old Timex?
The watch part of my timex needs a battery! So once I get one of those, Jason can wear it. The nice thing about he timex system was that the watch was just a sports watch and so you could wear it as such. So once we get a battery Jason can wear it as a sports watch and connet the GPS if he wants to follow distance as well. Actually it will be really fun to compare the two watches and see how they do against each other.
I don't know how many people are registerd for the race....i can't seem to find that information on the web....and I think you need something harder than beer when listening to the cubs. my god they suck.
I just ordered my Garmin 205 last week! I'm so excited!!
Cute picture, by the way.
thanks!
I know, i am looking at the UPS page every 30 minutes even though it says it will be delivered tomorrow.
Enjoy the 205! There's nothing better than having more data about your running :-) MotionBased is pretty good But I view it as more of a community than a running log. If and when you get a chance to dual boot your iMac with XP too then SportTracks is the way to go for a powerful running log. Enjoy!
john-
we decided not to dual boot the imac because we couldn't get a hold of a xp disk that had the sp2 on it (the two need to be on one disk) and couldn't afford to purchase it. Jason's laptop should work though to use sporttracks and the training center and all that stuff. we just need to get the apt setup to have wireless again since his ethernet port doesn't work.
ooh i think you will be in town for a bad month for us :-( We will be at a conference for the fist part and then shifting for the rest. but maybe we will be abel to catch you. let me know what dates you'll be there and we can seee what's happening on our end.
Leah, I'm just curious...did you consider the 305 model?
Nice pic, BTW. You look sort of like Steve Prefontaine's girlfriend from the movie Without Limits. I guess that makes Jason the Prefontaine character? Well, I guess Jason doesn't look like the character but he sure runs like him!
ooh i'll have to check that movie out. there was a really long article about Prefontaine in Runner's World a couple months ago that was really good. If you can find it I would recommend it....he was a little bit of running crazy.
Yes, I do recommend that you see Without Limits. But the must see running movie is Saint Ralph!!!
joe-
we did think about the 305 but run into problems because Jason and I do all of our runs together and so having a heart rate for one person doesn't help much since you don't know what the other person is doing.
Congrats on your rest. Enjoy your rest.
