After 5 long years in graduate school...the plan has paid off. We always heard, oh get a PhD in physics and the companies will be beating down your doors. With Jason graduating in about 2 months, we haven't had any companies banging down our door, and just a bunch of recruiters asking ridiculous questions that had no meaning on what getting a PhD actually means....like, "How much have you been paid over the last 3 years?" "Well, I'm on a Department of Energy grant and they pay me just enough so that I can get one $2 beer a month at the bar next door to my ghetto fabulous apartment". Please.
Anyways, a *fantastic* recruiter found his way to Jason's resume, and landed him an interview with a Chicago company. They gave him a take home technical test which he passed. This was given to him right before Lollapalooza, so he was up at 5am working on that, and then to the concert for 12 hours....it was a long exhausting weekend.
He went in for an interview on Tuesday which went on for 5.5 hours....and at the end they had offered him a position. This morning they called back with an offer and Jason's going to accept it. He starts in the middle of september.
SO A BIG CONGRATS TO HIM!
The best part is that we get to stay in Chicago. In my city that I grew up in. So maybe I have never lived more than 200 miles from Chicago...but you know what? Who cares? I love this town! Yay!

Congratulations Jason!!! That is huge and exciting news- go out and celebrate!
Yes yes here here to Jason. Here is hoping the job is everything he ever dreamed of. I think a celebration is in order Leah. Better take that boy out to dinner.
Congratulations Jason! That is fantastic news for both of you.
Congrats! I just sent this post to Shelly to encourage a bidding war. Hell why not?
When will you start a family. I'm asking now so Leah doesn't have to bother you.
I'm available for pictures of the blessed event. U-tube here we come!
Cheers!

You can hate me - I give you concert tickets!
Congrads, Jason! I am so happy for you!
So, where will you be working?
Congratulations, Jason. Here's to your great financial future!
But you do realise that the fun part is coming to an end and real life will take over, right?
Congrats, Jason!! That's so great! So glad things are working out for you.
Thanks everybody. I'm pretty excited.
And as far as the fun being over, grad school's been more hard work than fun. Not that it's been bad, but I'm ready to work hard *and* earn a reasonable wage. I will miss the flexible schedule, though.
Congratulations!
Congrats Jason! Sounds like everything is falling into place with you (and Leah, of course).
Now, if only the Cubs can do their job, it would be the final piece of the puzzle.
I know it's been said, but CONGRATULATIONS!
OMG that is amazing. Big Congrats to you.
