Took Sleep Instead

Well I WAS going to get up early and go run. Apparently though I am still in high school and slept till 10 instead. Oh well, I know I won't get much sleep tonight so I'd rather have had some good sleep last night.

I keep going back and forth on what to wear for the race. dry fit t-shirt with long sleeve over for the first few miles? tight dry fit tank with dry fit t-shirt over with long sleeve tshirt over. Keep the number on the short sleeve and then if I get really warm switch the number to the tank top underneath?

I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. What have other people decided on? Tank tops or t-shirts.

(I accidently looked at the mornng hourly weather for Monday on Accuweather which has temps in the lower thirtys and I almost started crying. We are now at start temps of 40.....)

  2. Hey Leah,
I just went for a 2.5 mile run, ran up Columbus then down state. I dunno, it's mid50s and i wore a sleeveless WITH a sleeveless windbreaker.. i'm now considering going with a long sleeve tightish fitting top with shorts.. (and gloves)..

this weather is confusing.. i hate overheating but don't want to be freezing .. tomorrow will be colder than today, so i'll have to see.. i'm brining extra clothes to gear check just inc ase i change my mind

  3. That's quite cold, and I would go with a t-shirt. Whatever you do, DON'T do anything that would you require to swap the race number in the middle of it. I'd probably wear a t-shirt and something to toss away after a mile on top of that. This could even be a garbage bag (I'm not kidding).

Sleeping in was definitely a good idea, especially as you're unlikely to sleep well tonight.

I just read a bit on chasingkimbia.com, and most of the Kenyans there don't run at all for the last two days before the race. Interesting.

    Most of all: Good Luck!!!!

  4. You might be overthinking this.

In any case, I suggest the mantra of

    throwaway jacket
    throwaway gloves
    throwaway hat

  5. Last summer I adopted the practice of putting my number on my shorts. While I may remove a top, I generally keep my lower extremities covered in the same fashion throughout the race ;)

I brought a toque (toboggan) as I'd heard snow was forecast, then bought a coolmax blue cap to shield off rain. Ugh! I've never had rain in a marathon before!
